Wind power is getting quite a bit of attention in the USA. Oddly enough, there are many people who are against that as well.
Waste to Energy is also being looked at more and more. The US lags way behind Japan and Europe, who make much better use of trash than we do.

There is no one right answer. We need them all for the foreseeable future. The balance of use will change but no one is better or worse. And really, how much are you willing to degrade your lifestyle?
Take this to the next step. The largest single killer is automobile deaths. Would you be willing to live with a strict 10 MPH limit to eliminate this tragic waste of life. Of course not. There is some acceptable amount of imperfection needed for modern life.
I don’t think the energy / environmental / global warming is about that. I think it is about who gets to influence how you think, what you buy, how you vote, and how much power they get over you.
Who wins in all this?
